Guiding students to create powerful portfolios

What is Triangle Studio?

Triangle Studio was established to assist high school students in creating powerful and original artwork for art school and university submissions. Students can benefit from a portfolio coach who has a clear understanding of what art schools are seeking: individuals whose work is unique, illustrates their personal narrative, and showcases exciting and distinctive artwork.

Tailored to Every Student

Through a process customized to each emerging artist, we guide them to develop submission materials that look different and unique.  Studio time is dedicated to immersing students in exploring techniques and developing more complex works of art. We will utilize mediums that resonate best with their goals, including drawing with charcoal, painting in watercolor and gouache, collage, fiber works, sculpture and more.

Proven Outcomes

Students at Triangle Studio build portfolios that stand out from typical high school art submissions, showcasing their individuality and unique perspective. Past students have been accepted and have won scholarships to some of the nation’s top art schools, including RISD, Parsons, Pratt, SCAD, CalArts, University of Texas, School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Otis.

Triangle Studio students typically receive scholarships of over $20,000 per year from their school of choice.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas and has lived a colorful life. Drawing from her wealth of experience, she inspires and guides students to aim high and be brave in their artwork and future endeavors. Her educational background includes studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of North Texas. Elizabeth spent 20 years away from home, raising a family in New York City and London, England. During this time, she continued her lifelong development by immersing herself in different cultures and understanding their values and resonances.

The aim at Triangle Studio is to successfully guide students to create a portfolio of work that demonstrates their abilities and highlights their strengths, as well as their potential for future success.

  • Review current work, discuss interests, strengths and areas for growth.
  • Collaborate to create a list of portfolio objectives.
  • Develop a plan to achieve these objectives.
  • Each session starts with music. Elizabeth loves to hear what music inspires her students. We take turns playing our faves.
  • Then warm-up drawings or experimental painting to get ideas flowing. This is a quick no-pressure piece to loosen up body and mind.
  • We will explore mediums and techniques that interest the student.
  • We strive to enjoy the process, all work is valued even if it is not in the final portfolio!
  • We photograph and document artwork for portfolio submissions as we go.
  • Studio hours during the school year are 4-8pm Mon-Fri, flexible on Saturdays
  • Student hours are determined by the availability of the student.
